Our research programs advance our understanding of animal biology and address local and global issues facing animal industries today. Our goals are to discover and develop new techniques and information to benefit animals, agriculture, and human health. The Department’s 19 faculty members, many internationally recognized, have diverse interests in animal management, breeding, genetics, physiology, nutrition, growth biology, and microbiology. Ananda Fontoura and Rodrigo Molano received the Leonard A. Maynard Graduate Award and Michael Dineen and Michael Miller (Miner Institute/UVM) received the Charlie Sniffen Graduate Student Award. Learn more about the awards . Ewa Bachminska, Graduate Student received a grant from Cornell Institute for European Studies to research conservation education in Poland in the summer 2019. It will help her include more wildlife conservation in the classes that she teaches at Cornell. Debbie Grusenmeyer awarded for inspiring youth The Sav-A-Caf® Youth Impact Award annually recognizes mentors who inspire youth to be passionate about animal agriculture. Grusenmeyer leads the way for New York dairy youth by developing, coordinating and implementing programs. She serves as the PRO-DAIRY youth specialist and statewide 4-H dairy programmer .
